This test can give you an insight into your hormonal health. Simply collect a sample of blood at home using a finger prick and send to our lab for analysis. and a detailed lab report. Please note that this test is sent to a referral lab and results would be expected within 1-3 days of lab receipt.
Female hormones play a crucial role in supporting various bodily functions such as fertility, metabolism, mood regulation, and even sleep patterns. Any alteration in these hormones can manifest through changes in your menstrual cycle, weight fluctuations, skin issues like acne, hair thinning, decreased energy levels, feelings of anxiety or depression, or even muscle weakness. There are also associations between hormonal levels and menopause.
Our convenient at-home test is designed to help you pinpoint whether a hormone imbalance could be the underlying cause of your symptoms.
It's worth noting that the contraceptive pill may impact your test results. If you decide to discontinue its use, we recommend waiting until your menstrual cycles return to their regular pattern before taking the test. Additionally, if you're not planning to conceive, ensure you use an alternative form of contraception during this period.
Here's a brief explanation of each of the parameters tested:
1. **Progesterone**:
- Progesterone is a hormone released by the ovaries that is involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis. It prepares the endometrium (lining of the uterus) for a potential pregnancy after ovulation and helps maintain pregnancy.
2. **Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)**:
- FSH is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in the reproductive processes of both males and females. In women, it stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles in the ovary before the release of an egg.
3. **Luteinising Hormone (LH)**:
- LH is another hormone produced by the pituitary gland that is crucial for reproduction. In females, a surge in LH triggers ovulation and development of the corpus luteum. In males, LH stimulates the production of testosterone from the Leydig cells in the testes.
4. **Prolactin**:
- Prolactin is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that promotes milk production (lactation) in females after childbirth. It also plays a role in regulating the immune system and pancreatic development.
5. **Testosterone**:
- Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone, although it is present in both males and females. It is responsible for the development of male reproductive tissues, secondary sexual characteristics, and it also influences muscle and bone mass, as well as mood and energy levels.
