When to Take the Test

For the most accurate results, aim to take this test between days 2 and 5 of your menstrual cycle (with day 1 being the first day of your period). If your periods are absent or irregular, the test can be taken at any time.

Activity and Diet Before Testing

Refrain from intense exercise or sexual activity for 48 hours before the test, as both can elevate prolactin levels.
Additionally, avoid nipple stimulation and heavy meals prior to testing, as these may also affect your results.

Hormonal Contraception

Hormonal contraception can affect hormone levels and make the results harder to interpret. If possible, pause hormonal contraceptives and use barrier methods for a few weeks before testing.

Hormonal Gels or Pessaries

If you use hormonal gels or pessaries, avoid using a finger for the test that has been in contact with these products within the last four weeks. When applying these products, wear gloves to prevent contamination.

Venous Blood Tests

If you're attending a venous blood draw, inform the phlebotomist of any areas where hormonal gel is applied.

Biotin Supplements

Discontinue biotin supplements at least 72 hours before the test, as biotin can interfere with lab results.

Please note that following the instructions step by step is crucial, as not following them may lead to sample rejection.
